Axis offers a clearly defined progression pathway, enabling successful candidates to develop into technicians and progress into more senior technical and supervisory roles over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites across Ireland to support environmental monitoring projects.
  • Assist with environmental noise surveys and occupational air and noise monitoring.
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, stormwater and wastewater samples.
  • Install, service and retrieve ambient air and dust monitoring equipment.
  • Support Legionella sampling and other specialist environmental monitoring activities.
  • Assist with bund integrity testing and environmental field investigations.
  • Prepare monitoring equipment, sample containers and project documentation.
  • Label, preserve, store and transport samples in accordance with company procedures.
  • Complete field sheets, chain-of-custody forms, photographs and electronic records accurately.
  • Enter and check monitoring data and assist with factual reporting.
  • Carry out equipment checks, maintenance and calibrations following training.
  • Work safely in accordance with site rules, risk assessments and company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Requirements

  • Full driving licence valid for driving in Ireland.
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
  • Good communication, numeracy and basic computer skills.
  • Interest in environmental monitoring and technical field work.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work safely.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including occasional early starts and overnight stays.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and carrying out practical tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently following training and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional approach.

Desirable

  • Qualification in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Laboratory Science or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a field service, environmental, laboratory or technical role.
  • Experience with environmental sampling or monitoring activities.
  • Experience working on industrial, utility, construction or wastewater treatment sites.
  • Knowledge of water sampling, monitoring equipment or sample handling procedures.
  • Safe Pass, Manual Handling or other relevant site safety training.

Candidates with strong practical ability and a willingness to learn will also be considered, as full training will be provided.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys practical work, problem-solving and working in a field-based environment.

The successful candidate will be eager to learn, self-motivated and comfortable working outdoors at a variety of client sites. You'll enjoy hands-on work, be willing to travel and have a genuine interest in building a long-term career within environmental monitoring and compliance.

Whether you're a recent graduate or someone with practical experience looking for a new career path, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist technical skills within a growing business.
