About this role
SpaceX is building a massive solar cell manufacturing facility in Bastrop to power next-generation orbital infrastructure for Starlink, and this role sits at the operational center of that effort. As Facilities Specialist, you would manage and coordinate multiple service contracts—janitorial, water systems, pest control, fuel distribution, landscaping, waste management—while acting as the primary liaison between SpaceX operations and external vendors. You'd also handle direct facilities maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and grounds systems, plus manage fleet vehicles and furniture requests.
The position demands someone comfortable juggling competing priorities and working independently. You'll coordinate vendor schedules to keep operations running smoothly, partner with Purchasing on contract bids, ensure vendors meet SpaceX standards, and drive efficiency improvements. The role requires flexibility—extended hours, weekend availability, and on-call emergency support are part of the expectation. Three or more years of facilities maintenance, operations, or coordination experience is required; relevant certifications like FMP or PMP, or a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management would strengthen your candidacy.
This is a contract position requiring U.S. citizenship or equivalent ITAR authorization. It's suited for someone organized and self-directed who thrives managing multiple trades and vendors, and who can adapt quickly as priorities shift in a high-stakes manufacturing environment.
