Description

About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Staff Global Supply Chain Manager, Construction

  • Direct sourcing strategy for all construction scopes on energy storage projects, including civil, trenching, cable, cable tray, and electrical balance of system

  • Develop should-cost models and cost benchmarks for construction scopes to support project budgets and pricing
  • Guide EPC construction, engineering, and project controls teams on procurement strategy, schedule risk, and supplier capacity
  • Build and maintain the construction supplier base, including qualification, performance tracking, and risk mitigation
  • Establish procurement processes and standards for construction buying across the EPC function

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Working knowledge of civil and electrical construction scopes, including medium-voltage and low-voltage (MV/LV) cable, trenching, and cable tray
  • Ability to build cost models and level bids in Excel, with experience in ERP and procurement systems such as Workday
  • Ability to negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers and to influence senior internal stakeholders
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

About this role

Redwood Materials is building the supply chain infrastructure for the energy transition, and this role sits at the center of that effort. As Staff Global Supply Chain Manager for Construction, you'll own procurement strategy and execution for all construction scopes—civil, electrical, trenching, cable systems—across the company's energy storage EPC projects. This means running RFQ/RFP processes, negotiating contracts and change orders with subcontractors, developing cost models to support project budgets, and setting the procurement standards that the entire construction function follows. Your decisions directly impact project cost, schedule, and supplier risk.

The role demands deep construction procurement expertise: 8+ years in EPC or construction supply chain, fluency with contract types and change order management, and hands-on knowledge of civil and electrical construction scopes including MV/LV systems. You'll need to model costs in Excel, work within ERP and procurement platforms like Workday, and be equally comfortable negotiating with subcontractors and influencing senior internal stakeholders. A degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, or Business is expected, or equivalent experience.

Based in San Francisco on a hybrid schedule, you'll travel quarterly to Reno and to project sites. The salary range is $186,000–$215,000, with compensation varying by experience and qualifications.
