About this role
Make-A-Wish America's Compliance team is looking for someone to lead chapter audits and serve as a compliance partner across the organization. You would conduct audits of chapter operations against Make-A-Wish policies, document findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure improvements. The role also involves contributing to broader risk management initiatives and maintaining relationships with chapter leadership and staff at all levels. This is fundamentally about translating audit results into practical guidance that helps chapters strengthen their operations.
The position requires at least five years of work experience, with nonprofit compliance or audit background preferred. You'll need strong project management skills to juggle multiple audits and priorities, sharp attention to detail, solid analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate findings clearly—both in writing and face-to-face. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database work are essential. The role is hybrid based in the Phoenix area, though remote work is available for those in the continental U.S., and you should expect to travel roughly 20% of the time for in-person meetings and chapter visits.
The compensation range is $63,200 to $70,000, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one, a 401(k) with 5% match after one year, and eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. You'll receive 15 days of PTO to start, plus 10 sick days, 11 paid holidays, and two volunteer days annually after your first year.
