About this role
Kelso Industries is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their Ogden office on a contract basis. This is a structured, deadline-driven role focused on core accounting operations: cash application and accounts receivable aging, monthly bank and corporate card reconciliations, fixed asset register maintenance, and compliance tasks like insurance certificate tracking and sales tax preparation. You'll own clear monthly deliverables and report directly into the close calendar, with opportunities to build toward deeper work in reconciliations, tax, and controls.
The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in accounting and two to four years of general accounting experience, including hands-on reconciliation work. You'll need solid GAAP knowledge, proficiency with an ERP or accounting system (NetSuite or QuickBooks Online preferred), and the reliability to flag issues early and communicate clearly when deadlines are at risk. Construction or contractor accounting experience and familiarity with Ramp or multi-state sales tax are valuable but not required.
Success in this role means delivering bank reconciliations within five business days of month-end, keeping unapplied cash current, coding and reconciling corporate card transactions by close, and ensuring fixed assets and insurance certificates stay current and tied to the general ledger. You'll be part of a 5,000-person organization across 40+ companies, with emphasis on growth opportunities and a supportive work environment.
