About this role
Flexential's Portland Hillsboro data center needs a Critical Infrastructure Engineer II to manage the electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems that keep operations running at 99.999% uptime. You'd own preventative and corrective maintenance across all assigned equipment, handle vendor relationships, and mentor Data Center Technicians on the technical side. The role carries 24/7 on-call responsibility and involves everything from reading blueprints and troubleshooting root causes to assisting with disaster recovery exercises and power provisioning for customer orders.
This position requires at least two years of data center experience plus four or more years working in critical infrastructure environments with hands-on troubleshooting skills. You'll need solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems—generators, UPS units, chillers, PDUs, switchgear, and building automation systems. Military or trade experience is valued, and relevant certifications or an engineering degree would strengthen your candidacy. The work is hands-on: you'll spend about half your time on your feet performing facility rounds, responding to alerts, and handling maintenance tasks that may expose you to electrical, chemical, and mechanical hazards.
The position pays $40–$45 per hour based on experience and qualifications, with standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible PTO, and disability coverage. This is a full-time, in-office role in Portland Hillsboro with occasional off-hours and weekend work required.
