Description
Who we are
We're on a mission to bring joy to the business of events. Weddings, galas, festivals... the moments that people remember the most are put on by dozens of small businesses working together behind the scenes to bring that experience to life. These businesses have historically run off of software that doesn't meet their needs, spreadsheets, or even memory.
Goodshuffle Pro runs the end-to-end operations of event rental companies — invoicing, payment processing, inventory management, and the logistics of getting a warehouse worth of equipment to a venue and back at precisely the right time. Rental companies are one piece of everything that goes into an event, and we're changing how the whole industry operates together.
Some of us are event nerds, some of us are tech nerds, and some of us are both — but all of us are passionate problem-solvers who care about helping our users succeed. Our values describe how we work:
Sincerely Care — about yourself, about your team, about your work.
Speak Up — liberally share knowledge, seek to solve, recognize and appreciate.
Learn from Everything — listen intently, stay curious. Don't fear failure; fear not learning.
Show Up — come prepared, execute diligently, honor accountability.
What you'll do
You’ll be focused on building technology that powers the events industry, and you’ll own the full lifecycle of your work. Your primary focuses will be to:
Build products that people love using. You will get to know the people you're building for. This involves running discovery calls every week, visiting warehouses to see how our customers run their day-to-day, and uncovering the pain that we can solve. You will take problems and own the right way to solve them, instrument and measure the outcome of your work, and propose iterations for the product roadmap.
Own the end-to-end build. You will work directly with our founders, Design, Customer Experience, and GTM to shape requirements and navigate ambiguity on your projects. The events industry is fast-paced, detailed, and has little tolerance for mistakes; precision and architecting for scale are key. You’ll manage complex data modeling, migrations, distributed system design, and intuitive UX.
Build systems our customers rely on. You will support production systems with the rest of the Engineering team, ensuring that reliability is always our #1 priority. This requires a deep understanding of how our systems, infrastructure, and integrations work. You’ll find ways to automate routine tasks, freeing up more time for the team to focus on innovative work. When something breaks, you trace down the root cause and fix it at the core, ensuring it doesn’t continue happening.
Operate with an AI-first mentality. You will work alongside a company of builders who are passionate about technology and delivering value. AI is changing daily, and we are changing just as fast. You should be someone who keeps up with the latest and greatest in tech, and brings new opportunities back to your team. AI is not just accelerating development, but every aspect of what we do – everything from product discovery to evaluating success.
Who you are
You care about the details. You write requirements carefully, think through edge cases, and mitigate risk for everything you do. Our customers rely on our products to run their businesses, and getting it right is important to you.
You approach your work with curiosity. Your first instinct is to ask questions to learn more. You understand different perspectives, the importance of context, and nuance. Your friends describe you as empathetic and someone who seeks to solve problems.
You balance organizational rigor and adaptability. You track your commitments, close open threads, keep documentation current, and flag when things start to slip. When your priorities shift, you adjust plans and keep moving forward, ensuring all relevant parties are aware of the shift. You explain your work clearly to non-engineers, and your manager doesn’t have to consistently follow up with you.
You think in systems. You approach problems, both product and process, by understanding how systems interact and influence one another, rather than looking at a single piece of the puzzle.

About this role
Goodshuffle Pro is building software that runs the operations of event rental companies—the businesses that supply everything from chairs to lighting rigs for weddings, galas, and festivals. As a Software Engineer III, you'd own the full lifecycle of products that handle invoicing, payments, inventory, and logistics for these customers, who depend on precision and reliability to execute their work. This means writing careful requirements, understanding edge cases, visiting warehouses to see how your software actually gets used, and shipping features that solve real problems in a fast-paced industry with little tolerance for mistakes.
The role calls for someone with at least four years of engineering experience and a track record shipping products people use daily. You'd work directly with founders, design, and customer success to navigate ambiguity and shape requirements. You'll manage complex data modeling, distributed system design, and the infrastructure that keeps these systems running—supporting production with the rest of the engineering team and automating routine work so the team can focus on innovation. The company is moving quickly with AI across discovery, development, and measurement, so you should be someone who stays current with the field and brings new opportunities back to your team.
The position is based in Washington, DC and requires three days in-office with hybrid flexibility. Compensation ranges from $150,000 to $190,000, with full health coverage, unlimited PTO, 401k matching, and commuter benefits. Prior experience with SaaS for small businesses, FinTech, or specific stacks like Rails, Java/Spring, Angular, React, or relational databases is preferred but not required.
