Description
About the Company
Dirac is building the creative suite for manufacturing engineering. Manufacturing engineering has been underserved by fractured tooling. The work of defining how a product gets built is spread across process plans, MBOMs, routings, work instructions, spreadsheets, PLM configurations, ERP tables, and internal tools. Each artifact represents only part of the process, forcing engineers to rebuild context whenever a design changes.
BuildOS brings these workflows together in one environment. Manufacturing engineers author, version, review, and distribute the Build—the canonical definition of how a product is produced.
About the Company
Dirac is on a mission to reindustrialize The West. American manufacturing is broken—burdened by inefficiency, bureaucracy, and outdated processes. We are pioneering Model-Based Manufacturing, where context-aware production planning informs design in real-time—eliminating the disconnect between engineering and manufacturing. Our platform automates what can be automated and captures tribal knowledge where automation falls short, creating a seamless system for building at scale. We're building the tools modern manufacturers need to move faster and build better, the pillars of a more abundant future. We are a mission-driven company of world-class engineers and operators with a culture of high trust, high agency, and high autonomy.
How You Will Contribute:
- Own critical systems—design, build, and scale them.
- Work directly with manufacturers to ensure our tools solve real problems.
- Operate in high-agency mode—if it needs doing, you do it.
Requirements:
- You’ve built something - a project, an assignment, something physical, an open source library - and you can explain it conversationally.
- You want to learn - and build, and re-learn and re-build. You believe your best work from 6 months ago is mediocre now and want to build it all again.
- You find, design, build and complete work that no one brought to you - because you recognize the need for the work to be done, and done well.
- You know how to debug and troubleshoot issues while taking reported information at face value - digging deeper to find the root cause.
- You have knowledge of a programming, scripting or configuration language.
- You have knowledge of modern container technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
- You understand Networking, DNS, and Routing foundations (IP, CIDR, VPN, etc.)
- You can figure out IT, SSO, MDM functions, apps, and integrations.
Nice to Have:
- Background in manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial software.
- Familiarity with working with teams org wide (Engineering, Product, Finance, Operations, Legal, etc.)
- Familiarity with Terragrunt, Tofu, Terraform or similar tools for IaC collaboration.
- Experience with Security operations (Cookies, CSRF, CSP, etc.) and/or Compliance Frameworks (ISO, CMMC, etc.)
- You have a general understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL, Cache, Blob, Memory, etc.).
- You know what RBAC, OAuth, JWT, etc. is.
Salary & Compensation:
- $100,000 - $135,000 + Stock Options
Benefits:
- Health, Dental, Vision Insurance: Comprehensive coverage to ensure you and your family stay healthy.
- Generous Paid Time Off: Enjoy flexible, high-trust PTO and sick leave.

About this role
Dirac is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to own the infrastructure and systems that power BuildOS, their platform for manufacturing engineering. You'll work directly with manufacturers to ensure the platform runs reliably at scale, taking on the full lifecycle of critical systems—from design and implementation through troubleshooting and optimization. This is a high-agency role where you identify and complete work that needs doing, not just what's assigned to you.
You should have hands-on experience building something substantial and the ability to explain it clearly. You'll need solid fundamentals in programming or scripting, container technologies like Kubernetes and Docker, and networking concepts including DNS, routing, and VPNs. Experience debugging complex issues, configuring IT and SSO systems, and working with infrastructure-as-code tools will serve you well. Background in manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial software is a plus, as is familiarity with security operations and compliance frameworks.
The role is full-time and in-person at the NYC office. Compensation is $100,000–$135,000 plus stock options, with comprehensive health coverage, flexible PTO, and commuter benefits. Note that employment requires U.S. Person status under ITAR.
