As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Air Dominance and Strike Low Observables Team are advancing into the next generation of LO Technology to enhance the survivability and effectiveness of unmanned air systems. Our Low Observables engineering team is responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and sustaining stealth features that reduce radar (RCS) and infrared (IR) signatures, ensuring our systems remain undetectable in contested environments.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an early career role open to engineers with a degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Low Observables work sits at the intersection of all three: the shape of the air vehicle, the electromagnetic behavior of its surfaces, and the materials and processes used to build it.
You do not need prior stealth experience. Almost nobody arrives with it, because most of it cannot be taught outside a cleared program. We will teach you the LO-specific methods. What we are looking for is strong engineering fundamentals, comfort picking up unfamiliar analysis tools, and the judgment to tell a real result from a bad one.
You will be paired with an LO engineer and start on a scoped piece of a live program, not a training exercise.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Run broadband Radar Cross Section (RCS) analysis on components and full air vehicles, and learn to judge when a prediction can be trusted
- Support the design and development of Low Observable unmanned air systems, from early configuration trades through detailed design
- Build and improve the analysis tools, scripts, and validation workflows the team runs on
- Model LO materials and treatments, and help select and optimize them for specific components
- Support manufacturing and validation planning, including tolerances, inspection methods, and what is actually producible at rate
- Help plan and execute RCS measurement campaigns in indoor chambers and on outdoor ranges, then reduce and interpret the data
- Compare measured results against predictions, chase down the disagreements, and feed what you learn back into the models
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
- Able to start in 2027.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Coursework in at least one of: electromagnetics or RF, aircraft or vehicle design, or materials and manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of a scripting or analysis language such as MATLAB, Python, or C++
- Familiarity with a 3D CAD package such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or Creo
- Demonstrated hands-on engineering work: a capstone or senior design project, internship, undergraduate research, or a student competition team
- Ability to explain a technical result clearly, in writing and in a design review
- Exposure to any electromagnetic simulation tool, such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, or COMSOL. X-Patch, SENTRi, and McMoM2D are government codes and we do not expect you to have used them
- Coursework or project experience with composites, additive manufacturing, casting, or injection molding
- Experience with laboratory RF measurement: network analyzers, anechoic chambers, or antenna pattern measurement
- Experience reducing, visualizing, and sanity-checking measured data sets
- A prior internship or co-op in aerospace, defense, or another hardware-heavy environment

About this role
Anduril's Low Observables team is hiring early-career engineers to work on stealth technology for unmanned air systems—a role that combines radar cross-section analysis, materials engineering, and design optimization in a live defense program. You'll be embedded with an experienced LO engineer and tackling real work from day one, not training exercises. The position demands strong fundamentals in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering, but not prior stealth experience; the team will teach you the classified methods specific to low observables work.
The day-to-day involves running RCS simulations, supporting design trades and detailed development, building analysis tools and workflows, modeling materials and coatings, and planning both manufacturing and validation. You'll also help execute and interpret measurement campaigns in test chambers and ranges, then feed results back into your models to close gaps between prediction and reality. This is hands-on work that spans electromagnetic analysis, CAD, scripting, and lab work—you need comfort learning unfamiliar tools quickly and the judgment to know when your results are sound.
You'll need a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline and U.S. person status for access to export-controlled information. Preferred experience includes coursework in electromagnetics, RF, or materials; working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, or CAD software; and hands-on work like capstone projects or prior internships. The role is based in Costa Mesa, California, in-office, with a salary range of $88,000–$117,000 and equity included in the compensation package.
