About this role
At the University of Tennessee at Martin's College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, this role centers on building and executing a comprehensive digital strategy across six major social platforms while producing the original content that brings the college's mission to life. You'd own everything from developing the strategic direction and content calendar to writing platform-specific copy, shooting and editing photos and videos, and analyzing what actually resonates with prospective students, alumni, and partners. The work demands both creative execution—designing graphics, editing reels, capturing classroom moments—and strategic thinking about audience growth, enrollment campaigns, and how algorithm changes should reshape your approach.
Beyond content creation, you'd manage the human side of the college's digital presence: responding to comments and messages, flagging potential reputation issues, and recruiting and directing student ambassadors to generate authentic, peer-driven content. This requires independent judgment within a fast-paced environment where you're juggling multiple campaigns and deadlines while staying aligned with broader college marketing goals. You'd report directly to the Director, translating analytics into recommendations and representing the digital perspective in college-wide planning decisions.
The role suits someone with three to five years managing social media strategy in higher education, nonprofit, or brand marketing—or equivalent experience—who combines strong writing and visual design skills with genuine comfort in analytics tools and platform strategy. Short-form video editing, paid social advertising experience, and familiarity with higher education branding are valued additions. The position is full-time, in-office in Knoxville, with a salary range of $60,000–$65,000.
