About this role

Livewire, a Richmond-based electrical contractor, is looking for a Lead Journeyman Electrician to take ownership of projects across residential and commercial work in Central Virginia. This is a hands-on role where you'll plan and execute installations from start to finish, direct other technicians, read plans, coordinate with trades and customers, and make field decisions independently. The work spans everything from service calls and panel work to custom lighting systems, lighting controls, and home automation—with an emphasis on quality execution and keeping projects on schedule.

The ideal candidate has an active Virginia Journeyman license, proven experience running electrical projects solo, solid NEC knowledge, and strong communication skills. You'll need to be organized, comfortable with accountability, and able to troubleshoot and solve problems before they become costly delays. Experience in both residential and commercial work is preferred, as is familiarity with lighting control systems like Lutron or low-voltage automation, though the company is willing to train someone with strong fundamentals and genuine interest in learning these systems.

The role offers $30–$40 per hour based on license and experience, plus health, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, six paid holidays, ten days PTO, and a Simple IRA. This is a full-time, in-office position in Richmond suited to an electrician ready to build a long-term career and grow the company's electrical department.
