About Wing:
Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.
About the Role:
Wing is looking for a UTM Regulatory and Standards Manager to join our Global Aviation Regulatory Team. This role is based remotely in the United States. This role leads UTM regulatory initiatives of moderate to high complexity, driving the execution of Wing’s regulatory strategy for the development, approval, and ongoing compliance of Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) products and capabilities. This includes systems utilized by both internal Wing teams and the broader external drone industry.
Working at the intersection of strategy and tactical execution, you will take ownership of large-scale project planning and translate evolving regulatory and service performance requirements into actionable product requirements and checkout test procedures. This position works closely with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, and Flight Operations teams to ensure compliance while supporting commercial objectives. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation and technology, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to build workflows from the ground up in a dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare service provider regulatory submissions and gain service provider regulatory approvals globally.
- Work with the product and engineering teams at translating regulatory mandates and service performance requirements into concrete product specifications and checkout test procedures, proactively developing alternative approaches when facing regulatory uncertainty.
- Support the implementation of Wing’s aviation technical standards roadmap; this includes monitoring industry and regulatory trends via technical standards committees to identify risks and analyze key changes, while being able to communicate such issues to key internal stakeholders and partners in Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), industry consensus groups, and external events.
- Get involved in technical standards development to ensure industry consensus standards reflect Wing’s policy, development and safety approaches.
- Apply a test-and-learn mindset to regulatory problem solving, evaluating decisions in the context of Wing's commercial and financial goals.
What You’ll Need:
- 8+ years of experience in Aviation Engineering, or Service Provider / UTM technical compliance implementation.
- 3–5+ years of direct experience working on UAS regulatory topics and interfacing with, or working within, civil aviation authorities (e.g., FAA, EASA, CASA).
- BA/BS degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Service Provider / UTM Regulations (e.g. EASA U-Space regulation, future Part 146).
- Proactive team player with great people skills, the ability to work independently, and to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

About this role
Wing's drone delivery operation needs someone to lead the regulatory and standards work that keeps its UTM systems compliant and competitive across multiple markets. As the UTM Regulatory and Standards Manager, you'd own the full lifecycle of regulatory submissions, work with aviation authorities globally to secure approvals, and translate complex regulatory requirements into product specifications that engineering can build against. You'd also monitor how industry standards are evolving—both through formal standards bodies and regulatory trends—and help shape those standards so they align with Wing's technical approach and commercial goals.
The role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring you to move fluidly between high-level policy conversations with regulators and detailed technical work with product and engineering teams. You'd need to solve novel regulatory problems in a test-and-learn mode, comfortable with ambiguity and able to propose alternative paths when the regulatory landscape isn't yet settled. This is a remote position in the US, reporting into a team that includes Policy, Legal, and Flight Operations alongside the technical side.
You should have at least eight years in aviation engineering or UTM compliance work, with three to five years specifically on UAS regulatory matters and direct experience engaging civil aviation authorities like the FAA or EASA. An engineering degree or equivalent hands-on background is expected. The role rewards strong analytical thinking, independent judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders under pressure. The salary range is $154,000–$204,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
