About this role

SpaceX's Memphis operation is seeking an Environmental Regulatory Engineer to manage the environmental permitting and compliance side of active construction and development projects. You'd lead federal permit acquisition, conduct field assessments including habitat and species surveys, and use GIS to document site conditions and communicate environmental constraints to design and construction teams. The role requires you to keep projects compliant as plans evolve, guide crews in the field, coordinate with external regulators (EPA, state and local agencies), and partner internally across Facilities, Civil, EHS, legal, and operations to integrate permitting into project timelines.

This position suits someone with at least two years of environmental due diligence, natural resources, or construction-phase compliance experience, plus hands-on familiarity with delineations, habitat assessments, or threatened and endangered species work. You'll need a bachelor's degree and demonstrated ability to work effectively with both design and construction teams on active projects. Preferred candidates hold advanced degrees in environmental science, ecology, or related fields and bring GIS proficiency, regulatory coordination experience, and a track record of managing field crews or contractors.

The role is hybrid but based in Memphis, Tennessee, with expectations to work extended hours or weekends when needed and travel to SpaceX facilities in Florida, California, Texas, and potentially internationally. You must be a U.S. citizen, green card holder, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR export control requirements.
