About this role

SonicWall is seeking a Test Principal Engineer to serve as a technical escalation point for enterprise customers dealing with complex networking and security issues. You would act as a subject matter expert handling high-impact incidents, leading troubleshooting efforts using diagnostic tools like Wireshark and Netmon, and working directly with Engineering, Support, QA, and Product teams to identify root causes and drive resolutions. The role demands designing and maintaining test environments to reproduce customer-reported problems, defining test strategies, and validating solutions across networking and security products.

This position requires deep hands-on expertise in L2-L7 networking protocols—particularly SSL, High Availability, State Sync, and Network Cluster configurations—plus proficiency with switching and routing protocols (STP, RSTP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), network test equipment (IXIA, Spirent), and Cisco and Juniper platforms. You'll need 7-10+ years in networking, network security, technical support, or related engineering, ideally with prior escalation or enterprise support experience. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is required.

Based in Milpitas on a hybrid arrangement, this role suits someone comfortable working in a high-pressure, interruption-driven environment while juggling multiple priorities. Strong problem-solving, communication, and crisis management skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams and managing customer commitments effectively.
