About this role

Leading protein expression assay development at Precision Medicine Group means owning both the science and the people side of a translational research operation. You'll design and validate multiplex immunofluorescence assays on tissue and liquid biopsy samples, working independently on experimental design while ensuring all work meets SOPs and regulatory standards. The role requires hands-on technical expertise with cell culture, automated staining platforms like the Leica Bond autostainer, and digital pathology software such as Indica Halo, paired with the ability to troubleshoot when things don't go as planned.

Beyond the bench, you'll supervise assigned lab staff, mentor junior scientists in core techniques, and coordinate project timelines with management while keeping an eye on expenses. Client communication is central to the position—you'll present findings clearly to both internal stakeholders and external customers, building relationships that support ongoing work. This is an in-office role in Houston requiring occasional extended hours to meet business demands.

The position calls for either a Ph.D. in cell biology, oncology, or a related field plus six years of relevant lab experience, or a Master's degree with ten years in an academic core or industry setting. Experience with GLP and ISO/CAP/CLIA standards is preferred. The salary range is $100,600–$151,000, with eligibility for discretionary bonus, health insurance, retirement benefits, and paid leave.
