About this role
Vail Health's oncology pharmacy team is seeking a pharmacy technician to support sterile compounding and medication management in a specialized, high-stakes environment. You'd work under pharmacist supervision in their 56-bed mountain hospital, handling the full workflow of oncology medications—from preparing IV admixtures and sterile preparations to managing inventory, restocking Pyxis stations, and ensuring compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards. The role also includes ordering and receiving supplies, monitoring controlled medications, resolving system discrepancies, and managing inter-departmental billing.
This position requires at least one year of pharmacy technician experience and two years specifically in sterile compounding, along with Colorado PHAT certification. You'll need to work safely with hazardous materials, maintain meticulous documentation, and respond flexibly to departmental needs. The role offers some operational responsibility—scheduling technician coverage and taking a leadership role in inventory management—making it suitable for someone ready to move beyond basic tech duties. Based in Edwards at a state-of-the-art facility, the position pays $24.28 to $33.51 per hour depending on your background.
