About this role
Mercer Advisors' Tax Team is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to prepare income tax returns, projections, and analysis for high-net-worth clients in a role that prioritizes client service over the billable-hour grind of traditional public accounting. You'd work with individuals, trusts, and businesses on tax compliance, quarterly estimates, and tax research while maintaining clear communication with both tax and wealth management clients. The position offers genuine work-life balance with a hybrid arrangement—flexible work-from-home options with periodic in-office collaboration—though tax season will require Saturday availability and extended hours as needed.
This role suits someone with one to three years of public accounting experience (or equivalent) and a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, ideally progressing toward or holding a CPA or EA credential. You'll need moderate tax code knowledge, strong organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple client matters while communicating complex concepts clearly. Familiarity with CCH software (Axcess, Workflow, Practice, SafeSend) is valued, as is a master's degree in tax.
The base salary ranges from $95,000 to $105,000, with incentive compensation available. Mercer Advisors provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and HSA contributions, along with company-paid life and AD&D coverage. The LA Century City location is in-office with hybrid flexibility built in.
