About this role
Precision for Medicine is seeking a Registered Histotechnician for their Houston laboratory to handle the full spectrum of tissue processing and preparation work. You would manage quality control across multiple stages—from tissue processing and microtomy through staining, embedding, and digital scanning—while operating and maintaining specialized equipment including tissue processors, autostainers (Dako and Leica platforms), and slide imaging systems. The role demands both technical precision and independent judgment, as you'll verify control slides, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards.
The position requires ASCP certification as a Histologist (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL), or eligibility to obtain it within six months of hire. You'll need a bachelor's degree and ideally some background in a certified histology program, along with practical experience in areas like IHC assay development, TMA sectioning, and H&E staining. Strong manual dexterity, visual acuity, and comfort with detailed lab work are essential; the role involves occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens and toxic substances, with lifting limited to 20 pounds.
This is a full-time, in-office position in Houston paying $30–$45 per hour based on experience and qualifications. It suits someone with solid histotechnology credentials seeking hands-on laboratory work across multiple processing platforms and techniques.
