About this role
Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope operates a major manufacturing footprint across North America, and this Controls Engineer role in Terrell supports that scale by keeping automation systems running reliably across metal processing operations. You'd report to the Director of Engineering and own PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modernization work on Allen-Bradley systems—the backbone of high-volume production. The position balances reactive problem-solving (investigating downtime and equipment failures) with proactive improvement, using production data to optimize processes and develop automated reporting in Ignition.
The role suits someone with 3–5+ years of hands-on controls experience in manufacturing who knows Allen-Bradley platforms, HMIs, and VFDs inside out. A degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering is expected, though equivalent field experience can substitute. You'll need solid troubleshooting instincts to diagnose issues affecting safety and throughput in live environments, plus familiarity with standards like NFPA and ANSI. Prior exposure to equipment commissioning, legacy system migrations, or process improvement projects is a plus but not required.
OBE emphasizes competitive benefits, work-life balance with flexible PTO, and a pay-for-performance structure with annual raise and bonus potential. This is a full-time, in-office position in Terrell, Texas.
