Description
Since 2019, Mercury has been rebuilding banking* for the way modern companies work. We combine thoughtful design with strong engineering to offer checking and savings accounts, cards, payments, credit, treasury and the analytics that tie it all together. Everything we build comes from one belief: finance should be carefully crafted, fast and transparent, and it should stay out of the way so founders can get back to building.
That belief only holds up if the right people are building it. Hiring is one of the most important ways we shape Mercury’s future. In this role, you’ll directly influence the teams building our products and the experience of our customers. As a Technical Recruiter, you’ll own a focused set of searches from kickoff to close and partner closely with hiring managers along the way.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
What you’ll do
- Own full-cycle recruiting for engineering and data roles, from kick-off to close
- Build and maintain strong, healthy pipelines across multiple roles simultaneously
- Source candidates proactively and creatively to engage top technical talent
- Develop a deep understanding of Mercury’s products, engineering challenges, and team needs
- Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders on pipeline health, progress, blockers, and recruiting timeline
- Own offer strategy and closing for your searches
- Deliver a candidate experience that's thoughtful and transparent from first touch to final decision
You should have:
- 1-3 years of experience as a technical recruiter supporting engineering or data teams
- Strong sourcing skills that go beyond LinkedIn Recruiter
- Deep curiosity about the products and teams you support, and a strong understanding of how the roles you hire for drive impact
- Strong alignment with Mercury’s values and ability to represent them authentically to candidates and your teammates
- Enjoy building diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams, and lead with deep empathy, kindness, and care for the work you do
- Have a strong sense of urgency and ownership for the work you do, and be willing to help support hiring efforts across other areas of the business, as needed

About this role
Mercury is rebuilding banking infrastructure for modern companies, and they're looking for a Technical Recruiter to help build the engineering and data teams making that happen. You'd own full-cycle recruiting for multiple roles simultaneously—sourcing candidates, building pipelines, partnering closely with hiring managers, and closing offers. The work spans from understanding Mercury's products and technical challenges deeply to delivering a thoughtful candidate experience throughout the process.
This role suits someone with 1–3 years of technical recruiting experience who can source beyond the usual LinkedIn channels and genuinely engage with the engineering and data talent market. You'll need strong communication skills to keep stakeholders aligned on pipeline health and progress, plus the ability to represent Mercury's values authentically to both candidates and teammates. The company emphasizes empathy, ownership, and a willingness to support hiring across other areas when needed.
The position is fully remote across San Francisco, New York, and Portland, with a base salary of $107,400–$120,900 for candidates in major tech hubs (or $96,700–$108,800 outside those areas). The total rewards package includes equity and benefits competitive within fintech and SaaS.
