About the role:
As a Member of Technical Staff, Finance Data, you’ll lead the design of the Financial Data Platform that Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations rely on to close the books, report revenue, and forecast. You’ll build auditable pipelines on Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake that turn raw usage into revenue, and set the bar for data accuracy and governance where correctness isn’t optional. Your main focus is a multi-phase roadmap that takes the platform to maturity and audit readiness as the business grows. This is a hybrid role with 3 in-office days per week in San Francisco or New York City.
What you'll do:

- Set standards for financial data ingestion, transformation, and storage, with auditability, lineage, and data integrity
- Work with FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps to turn reporting requirements, close-cycle timelines, and forecasting needs into architecture
- Partner with Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to meet SOX and SOC 2 requirements, backed by monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Set the technical roadmap, make build-vs-buy calls on ERP, billing, and revenue tools, and mentor engineers as the team grows
What you need:
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field
- Owned production data pipelines end-to-end on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Production experience with Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake
- Built data pipelines that feed financial reporting, revenue recognition, billing, or consumption-based pricing
- Supported audit, SOX, or SOC 2 requirements for data systems
- Translated Finance or Accounting requirements into technical architecture
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive compensation package, including equity.
- Inclusive Healthcare Package.

About this role
Vercel is building the financial data platform that powers its own revenue reporting, billing, and forecasting—and they're looking for a senior engineer to architect and lead it. You'd report to the Senior Director of Data Engineering and own the design of systems that Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations depend on to close books accurately and scale the business. This means designing end-to-end pipelines across batch and real-time workloads using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake; translating FP&A and accounting requirements into reliable, auditable infrastructure; and ensuring data accuracy where mistakes directly impact financial statements and audit cycles.
The role demands deep expertise in production data engineering—8+ years building and operating large-scale pipelines—combined with specific experience in financial data systems, revenue recognition, or consumption-based billing. You'll need hands-on proficiency with the core tech stack, strong cloud platform experience, and a rigorous background in data governance and compliance (SOX, SOC 2). Equally important is the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business and regulatory requirements into architecture decisions.
Beyond the technical challenge, you'd be setting the bar for data accuracy and mentoring a growing team in an environment where correctness isn't negotiable. This is a leadership role from day one—you'll write production code, make critical build-vs-buy decisions, and establish the roadmap for financial data maturity as Vercel scales. The hybrid role is based in San Francisco or New York City, with salary ranging from $264,000 to $396,000 depending on experience and location.
