Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You should have experience in providing flexible and innovative approaches to the delivery of your relevant curriculum and recent, relevant industrial experience practising in your teaching discipline.

- Recent and current practice within Barbering is essential.

- Previous experience of individual or group guidance/supervision in a formal or informal setting
- Relevant industrial or practitioner experience in appropriate discipline
- Teaching in a post compulsory education setting and of assessment and moderation in the context of SQA and the National Curriculum
- A relevant qualification – minimum C & G Level 2 Certificate in Barbering

About this role
Glasgow Kelvin College is seeking an experienced barber to teach evening classes in their barbering programme on a part-time basis (7 hours per week). This fixed-term role, running until June 2027, combines curriculum delivery with assessment, quality assurance, and student support. You'll work with colleagues to develop and refine learning materials, deliver City and Guilds qualifications, and support learners with diverse needs using flexible and innovative teaching approaches.
The ideal candidate has extensive, current hands-on experience in barbering and a minimum City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in the subject. You should be comfortable teaching in further education settings, familiar with SQA assessment and moderation practices, and able to incorporate new learning technologies into your delivery. If you don't already hold a Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) or equivalent, you'll complete the Teaching Essentials Programme within your first six months, followed by further professional development qualifications. Registration with General Teaching Council Scotland is mandatory.
