About this role

Ascension's cardiology team in Austin is seeking a certified medical assistant to manage the clinical workflow and patient experience in a fast-paced in-office setting. You'll prepare exam rooms, conduct patient interviews, capture vital signs, and maintain accurate clinical documentation—essentially serving as the clinical anchor who ensures providers have the information they need and patients move smoothly through their visits. The role demands attention to detail, organizational skill, and the ability to work effectively under the time pressures typical of a busy cardiology practice.

You'll need current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross, plus a medical assistant credential from one of several recognized organizations (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or equivalent), both obtained within your first months on the job. A high school diploma or one year of directly relevant medical assistant experience qualifies you educationally. The position is full-time and in-office in Austin, though you should be prepared to travel as needed to other Ascension locations in the surrounding area—Bastrop, Pflugerville, South Austin, Smithville, Temple, and Burnet—and you'll need to live within 30 miles of the primary clinic.
