Description

Element Science, Inc. is a medical device and digital health company redefining how patients with heart disease are monitored and treated as they transition from the hospital to the home. Our mission is to improve outcomes for patients at risk of life-threatening cardiac events through innovative solutions at the intersection of clinical-grade wearables, advanced algorithms, and therapy delivery.

We are entering an exciting phase of growth as we move from development into early commercialization. Our approach combines hardware, software, and services to deliver a more personalized and seamless patient experience—designed with both patients and clinicians in mind. Our product, a wearable patch defibrillator, is designed for patients with a temporary elevated risk of sudden cardiac arrest, addressing a significant and underserved population of over 500,000 patients in the U.S. By focusing on comfort, usability, and clinical effectiveness, we aim to transform the standard of care during this critical period. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Element Science is backed by leading healthcare and technology investors, including Third Rock Ventures, GV (Google Ventures), Deerfield Healthcare, Cormorant Asset Management, and Invus Opportunities.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Element Science is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional projects spanning the full medical device product lifecycle, from early-stage research and development through design, verification and validation, manufacturing, commercialization, and ultimately into the hands of patients who depend on our life-saving technology.

  • Partner with technical and operational teams to ensure seamless transitions between development phases, maintaining alignment on product requirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive project readiness for key development milestones, including design reviews, verification and validation, manufacturing readiness, and commercial launch.
  • Support ongoing product improvements informed by manufacturing performance, field experience, and patient needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the medical device industry, with demonstrated technical project management experience spanning the full product development lifecycle, from R&D and product design through verification and validation, manufacturing, commercialization, and post-market support.
  • Demonstrated experience leading medical device projects through the full product development lifecycle, from concept and R&D through manufacturing, commercialization, and post-market support.
  • Strong understanding of design controls, design transfer, manufacturing readiness, and the cross-functional dependencies involved in bringing regulated medical devices to market.
  • Experience translating complex technical requirements into executable project plans that support product quality, patient safety, and successful commercialization.

About this role

Element Science is moving a wearable patch defibrillator from development into early commercialization, and they need a Technical Project Manager to shepherd it through every phase—from R&D and design validation through manufacturing scale-up and market launch. You'd work across Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Manufacturing, and Operations to keep teams aligned, manage technical risks, and ensure the product meets the rigorous standards required for a life-critical cardiac device serving over 500,000 at-risk patients in the U.S.

This is a temporary remote role suited for someone with at least five years in medical device project management and a solid engineering background. You'll need hands-on experience navigating the full product lifecycle, including design controls, design transfer, and manufacturing readiness—the regulatory and operational complexities that separate successful launches from stalled projects. The work demands someone who can translate technical requirements into executable plans and thrive in the dynamic, cross-functional environment of a venture-backed company scaling toward commercialization.

The position offers $140,000–$160,000 depending on experience, stock options, comprehensive health coverage at 90% employer-paid, 401(k), and competitive time off. This is a good fit if you've guided medical devices to market before and want to see your project management directly impact patient outcomes.
