About this role

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build teleoperation systems that enable remote operation of robotic platforms—from manipulators and mobile robots to humanoids. You'll own the full software stack, developing low-latency control pipelines, real-time communication systems, and operator interfaces that translate human input into precise robotic motion. The role spans system architecture, integration with VR/AR interfaces, simulation environments, and troubleshooting the networking and latency challenges inherent in distributed robotic systems. You'll work alongside robotics, controls, and hardware teams to continuously improve responsiveness and reliability.

This position demands strong fundamentals in C++ and/or Python, hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2, and a solid grasp of real-time systems and networking protocols. You should have shipped teleoperation or remote-control software before and have direct experience integrating complex robotic hardware—whether arms, mobile bases, or humanoids. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field is required. Preferred experience includes VR/AR integration, haptic feedback systems, simulation tools like Gazebo or Isaac Sim, and a background in motion control and human-robot interaction.

This is a remote contract role based in North Reading, Massachusetts, paying $110K–$150K depending on qualifications and experience. You'll join a 3,000-person engineering organization within the global ALTEN Group, working on high-impact projects across aerospace, medical devices, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.
