About this role
GoFasti is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead data platform strategy and execution for a client, working remotely from Latin America. This is a contract role offering $7,000–$8,800 USD monthly, filled through a payroll platform.
You'll own end-to-end lakehouse architecture on Databricks, designing scalable batch and streaming pipelines in PySpark and Spark SQL while establishing data governance frameworks using Unity Catalog, access controls, and compliance standards. A significant part of the role involves leading platform migrations from legacy systems or Hadoop/EMR to Databricks, defining engineering standards (CI/CD, testing, code review), managing infrastructure as code with Terraform, and evaluating emerging AI use cases. You'll also mentor junior and mid-level engineers and advise other teams on architectural decisions.
This role demands 10+ years in data engineering with at least 5 years hands-on production experience on Databricks and Spark, strong Python and PySpark skills, proven success designing and migrating large data systems, and solid software engineering practices including Git, automated testing, and CI/CD. Prior Databricks certifications, cloud architecture credentials, multi-cloud exposure, and experience with LLMs or real-time data processing are valued additions. The role suits an architect-level engineer comfortable balancing technical depth with clear communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
