About The Role
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to build and integrate a software stack that enables connected PCs to share workloads and run AI inference across a private network.
As part of the PS Engineering, Integrated Solutions & Ecosystem team, you will connect agentic AI frameworks with Windows, Linux, edge devices, and distributed networks. You will own technical experiments and hardware proofs of concept, translating findings into secure, reliable solutions and engineering direction.
What You Might Do
- Build and integrate software stacks for hardware proofs of concept and workflow testing across closed PC clusters.
- Develop workload orchestration and AI inference offloading across client devices, private servers, and cloud environments.
- Deploy autonomous agents on Windows and Linux, integrating workflows with local hardware and edge devices.
- Automate software deployment and cluster configuration, including secure communication and data movement.
- Implement application security, policy management, and container or process isolation controls, including AppArmor and SELinux.
- Analyze telemetry, resource utilization, and bottlenecks during long-running agent simulations.
- Own experiments, test plans, documentation, and communication of findings; collaborate across business and engineering teams to define requirements.
- Evaluate emerging research and open-source technologies, contributing findings to engineering roadmaps and deployment improvements.
Essential Qualifications
- Typically 4–10 years of experience in software development, distributed systems architecture, systems programming, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced Python proficiency and C++ development experience.
- Deep understanding of AI inference, including practical knowledge of llama.cpp and vLLM.
- Experience deploying autonomous agents using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
- Experience with distributed computing, clustering, workload orchestration, and network offloading.
- Deep Windows and Linux knowledge, including edge integration and Windows hardware and driver communication.
- Experience with APIs, network protocols, application security, policy management, AppArmor, and SELinux.
- Familiarity with RAG, MCP, and prompt engineering.
- Strong analytical and English communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams in Agile and DevOps environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Low-level systems programming and LLM fine-tuning experience.
- Experience with hardware proofs of concept and distributed AI workflow evaluation.
- Experience assessing emerging research and open-source technologies through experimentation.
- Relevant cloud, Linux administration, network security, or programming certifications.

About this role
HP is building a distributed AI infrastructure for connected PCs, and this role sits at the center of that effort. You'd be developing the software stack that lets devices share computational workloads and run AI inference across private networks—work that bridges agentic AI frameworks with Windows, Linux, and edge hardware. The position combines hands-on systems engineering with research-oriented problem solving: you'll run hardware proofs of concept, translate findings into production-ready solutions, and help shape the technical roadmap.
The work spans the full stack. You'll orchestrate workloads across client devices, servers, and cloud; deploy autonomous agents using frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph; handle deployment automation, security policies, and container isolation; and analyze performance bottlenecks in long-running simulations. This requires deep expertise in Python and C++, practical knowledge of AI inference tools (llama.cpp, vLLM), distributed systems architecture, and strong command of both Windows and Linux—including driver communication, AppArmor, and SELinux. You'll also evaluate emerging research and open-source technologies, then communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
This role is best suited for someone with 4–10 years in distributed systems or systems programming who wants to work at the intersection of AI, infrastructure, and hardware. The position is in-office in Houston and offers a salary range of $110,300–$202,450 along with standard HP benefits including health coverage, flexible time off, and parental leave.
