About this role

STR's Director of Supply Chain Compliance role leads the design and execution of a comprehensive compliance program for a defense and government contracting environment. You'll own the full lifecycle of supplier oversight—from due diligence and risk classification through monitoring, audits, and corrective action—while interpreting complex DoD, FAR, DFARS, and customer-specific requirements and ensuring they flow down appropriately to the supply base. The position demands deep expertise in government contracting compliance, supplier risk management, and the ability to translate regulatory obligations into workable policies, controls, and documentation systems.

Beyond compliance mechanics, this role is fundamentally about technology enablement and continuous improvement. You'll evaluate and implement tools across contract lifecycle management, ERP, GRC, and supplier risk platforms, with a specific mandate to identify and responsibly deploy AI and automation to strengthen compliance visibility, contract analysis, obligation tracking, and anomaly detection. You'll also serve as the organization's subject-matter expert, advising cross-functional teams and designing training and communication programs for employees, buyers, and suppliers.

This is a remote contract position suited to someone with 15+ years in supply chain, procurement, or compliance—including at least three years leading a compliance or supplier oversight program in a defense, aerospace, or federal context. You'll need a security clearance-eligible background, a relevant bachelor's degree, and hands-on experience with supplier due diligence, audits, investigations, and compliance systems. The salary range is $168,000–$210,000.
