About this role
Colossal Biosciences is seeking a cell or developmental biologist to join its Dallas lab working on avian primordial germ cell engineering. The role centers on hands-on bench work: culturing and expanding these cells using novel protocols, collecting embryonic tissue under a dissection microscope, and performing microinjections to reintroduce engineered cells into surrogate embryos. You'll contribute directly to project milestones while maintaining detailed lab records and presenting findings to the team.
The position requires solid technical grounding in cell line derivation, culture, and molecular biology methods (qPCR, FACS, flow cytometry, immunostaining), along with demonstrated embryo manipulation experience. A bachelor's degree in a biological science discipline is the baseline; master's-level training is equally valued. Strong communication skills and creative problem-solving matter as much as technical competence, since you'll be collaborating closely with lab colleagues and documenting progress regularly.
Colossal offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid parental leave at full salary for up to 12 weeks, education reimbursement, and a 401k match. The company has been recognized as a top startup workplace in Dallas and maintains a collaborative culture focused on meaningful work. The role is full-time and based in Dallas with relocation assistance available; occasional international travel may be required.
