    About this role

Ascension's pediatrics team in Jacksonville is seeking a medical assistant to support physicians and manage the clinical workflow in an in-office setting. You'll prepare young patients for exams, assist with procedures, record vital signs and medical histories, and keep treatment rooms stocked and ready. The role also includes standard front-desk responsibilities—scheduling calls, filing records, and maintaining charts—so you'll need comfort moving between direct patient care and administrative tasks.

You'll need BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within your first month on the job. A high school diploma or one year of relevant medical assistant experience qualifies you educationally, though Ascension prefers candidates with CMA, RMA, or equivalent national certification. If you hold professional medical assistant credentials already, those can substitute for the education or experience requirement. Basic Machine Operator certification and Florida state registration are preferred but not required.

This is a full-time, in-office position at a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its workforce. If you're organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a pediatric clinical environment, this role offers a straightforward entry or mid-level path in medical assisting.
