Description

At BBYO, our mission drives everything we do, and it pushes us to make work fun, flexible, and fulfilling. We’re looking for a passionate, people-first Senior Regional Director to serve one of BBYO’s largest and most vibrant communities, Northern Region East (NRE). NRE is home to three active councils: Baltimore Council (Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties), DC Council (Frederick, Howard, and Montgomery Counties, and the District), and Northern Virginia Council (Alexandria, Arlington, and Loudoun Counties).

In this role, you’ll lead a talented staff team, mentor teen leaders, and run the budgets and calendars behind hundreds of Jewish teen experiences each year. You’ll also take a lead role in NRE’s Regional Convention, which is the second-largest convention in the BBYO Movement and draws more than 550 teens every year.

Alongside your teammates, you’ll connect in a dynamic environment and create a positive impact on teens, our community, and the world.

SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF

As a Senior Regional Director, you will:

  • Build, manage, and inspire a team of professionals across all three councils to hit ambitious goals for membership, experiences, and participation.
  • Coach and mentor teen leaders to implement an annual calendar of impactful, high-quality, and fun programs, including regular leadership training
  • Shape a strong team culture and supervise direct reports with high expectations and real investment in their growth.
  • Lead the planning and execution of NRE’s Regional Convention, from vision to logistics to the moment 550+ teens walk through the doors.
  • Own and manage major program budgets, balancing big ideas with responsible stewardship.
  • Recruit, train, and build a strong community of volunteer advisors in every council.
  • Seek out and cultivate relationships with parents, alumni and community partners, to mobilize more people to grow and support BBYO.
  • Utilize data to drive decisions in building a robust member recruitment process.
  • Coordinate and lead execution of other large-scale regional events throughout the year.
  • Participate in organizational projects, teams, and summer programs as assigned to expand the movement and strengthen teen leadership.

About this role

Leading BBYO's Northern Region East means overseeing one of the movement's most active communities across the DC metro area, from Baltimore to Northern Virginia. You'll manage three councils and their professional staff while mentoring the teen leaders who drive hundreds of programs annually. The role centers on scaling membership and participation, stewarding significant budgets, and orchestrating the region's flagship convention—an event that brings together more than 550 teens each year.

This is a volunteer position suited for someone with at least five years of work experience and a bachelor's degree, ideally with management and youth-facing background. You'll need to be based in the Greater Washington, DC area, work from the office three days weekly, travel regularly within the region, and commit to nontraditional hours when teens gather. The role also requires staffing BBYO's summer leadership program for two to three weeks annually and participating in organization-wide initiatives.

BBYO offers substantial support for this commitment: unlimited PTO, comprehensive health and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, a teen involvement benefit stipend, and flexibility around bringing family on business travel. The organization emphasizes autonomy, trust, and a culture where authenticity is valued alongside the work of building Jewish teen leadership.
