About this role

ISN, a contractor and supplier management firm founded in 2001, is seeking an Advanced SQL Database Administrator for their Dallas headquarters to manage a substantial database infrastructure supporting multiple large ASP.NET applications. You'd oversee more than 300 SQL Server databases across production environments, handling both on-premises and cloud deployments including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Cosmos DB. The role demands hands-on expertise in high-availability technologies like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, SQL clustering, and replication, along with the ability to troubleshoot performance issues, manage database maintenance jobs, and execute safe migrations from IaaS to PaaS/SaaS platforms.

This is a contract position requiring 3+ years of SQL Server troubleshooting experience, particularly with clustering and Always On configurations, plus 1+ years each administering SQL on Azure and supporting Azure Cosmos DB. You'll need strong PowerShell skills, knowledge of disaster recovery concepts (RPO/RTO), and ideally Azure certifications (AZ-900, DP-300). A Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience is expected. Beyond technical depth, the role involves collaborating closely with development teams on deployments and responding promptly to optimization requests.

The position is in-office in Dallas with flexibility after a 90-day onboarding period—two days weekly initially, then remote work with one monthly in-person day required. ISN offers comprehensive benefits including fully company-paid health insurance, 4% retirement matching, 15–30 days PTO depending on tenure, and professional development support. Relocation to the Dallas-Fort Worth area is required if you're not already local.
