About this role
CBIZ's Optumas division works with state Medicaid agencies and managed care plans to optimize healthcare purchasing and navigate evolving payment systems. This Phoenix-based role sits at the intersection of actuarial work and healthcare policy, requiring someone who can move fluidly between data analysis, client communication, and strategic deliverables. You'll analyze medical claims and enrollment data to answer state-specific questions, develop methodologies independently, and own the production of client materials—from Excel models to Tableau dashboards to written reports. The work involves regular client calls and presentations alongside collaboration with junior and senior team members.
The role suits candidates with one to three years of prior experience in actuarial, financial, or healthcare analytics work, though strong internship experience may substitute. You'll need solid grounding in Medicaid, comfort with Microsoft Office and data visualization tools, and the ability to think critically about complex healthcare problems. Presentation skills and clear communication matter; you'll be representing the firm to clients and coordinating across internal teams. A bachelor's degree is required, and the expectation is that you'll pursue relevant professional certifications as your career develops.
CBIZ offers a hybrid schedule for local candidates, giving you flexibility while staying connected to the Phoenix office and client teams. As part of a large professional services firm with significant resources and multiple markets, you'd have room to develop expertise in a specialized consulting niche.
