Description
Looking for a full-time animal care job in Austin where you can work hands-on with dogs and cats, be part of a busy team, and build a long-term career? Our downtown Austin pet boarding and dog daycare facility is looking for a dependable, motivated Pet Care Specialist to help provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for every guest.
We care for dogs and cats staying overnight and host dogs for daytime play care. Our facility stays busy year-round, serving pet parents in downtown Austin and the surrounding community. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, not a seasonal position, for someone who enjoys active work, takes pride in doing things well, and understands that exceptional animal care involves much more than playtime.
Key Responsibilities
As a Pet Care Specialist, you'll help ensure each guest receives attentive care, proper meals and medications, safe supervision, and a clean place to stay. You'll work alongside teammates who share the responsibility of keeping our facility running smoothly and making every pet's stay a positive experience.
Whether you have previous experience in a kennel, dog daycare, boarding facility, animal shelter, or another animal-care setting, this is an opportunity to put your passion for pets to work. Previous professional experience is preferred, but we're willing to consider candidates who have the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

About this role
Innovetive Petcare's downtown Austin facility operates year-round boarding and daycare for dogs and cats, and they're hiring a Pet Care Specialist to join a permanent, full-time team. The role centers on hands-on animal care: supervising playgroups, monitoring behavior, preparing meals, administering medications, and managing the facility's cleanliness and organization. You'll also handle check-ins with pet parents, record care notes in software, and communicate observations with teammates. The job is physically active—expect to spend your day on your feet, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing frequent cleaning, laundry, and waste removal alongside the more rewarding aspects of pet interaction.
This position suits someone who genuinely prioritizes animal welfare and takes pride in all dimensions of care, not just playtime. Previous experience in a kennel, shelter, or similar setting is preferred but not required if you bring the right attitude and work ethic. You'll need to be detail-oriented, comfortable with computers, able to manage shifting priorities in a busy environment, and available to work either the 6 a.m.–3 p.m. or 10 a.m.–7 p.m. shift, including weekends and holidays year-round.
The role pays $14–$17 per hour based on experience and includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) match, paid time off, and employee discounts. This is a genuine opportunity to build a long-term career in animal care with a team that treats pets like family.
