About this role
Ascension's Intermediate Care float position in Austin places you at the critical juncture where high-acuity cardiac patients transition from intensive care. You'll provide specialized monitoring and clinical management for patients on telemetry, administering vasoactive medications, managing advanced respiratory support, and maintaining central and arterial lines. The role demands sharp assessment skills to catch early warning signs of deterioration and coordinate rapid responses across multiple clinical systems, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to prevent complications and guide patients safely toward discharge.
This is a full-time, in-office role suited for experienced nurses comfortable with complexity and quick decision-making in a step-down environment. You'll need an active Texas RN license before your start date and BLS certification within your first month; ALS and PALS certifications are preferred. A nursing diploma or degree from an accredited program is required. The float structure means flexibility across units, which works well for nurses who thrive in varied settings rather than a single fixed assignment.
