About this role
Ascension is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Advocate to work remotely from Nashville, helping patients navigate medication access barriers. You'll work directly with patients, pharmacists, prescribers, and specialty pharmacies to process Patient Assistance Program applications, investigate insurance benefits, manage prior authorizations, and connect people with foundation funding and grant resources. The role requires you to maintain detailed records, verify documentation, and coordinate cases independently while adhering to privacy and regulatory requirements.
To qualify, you must hold current pharmacy technician certification from either the National Healthcareer Association or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Beyond that baseline, the position strongly prefers candidates with at least one year of hands-on experience in Patient Assistance Programs, grants, and foundation work, plus one year working with prior authorizations, pharmacy benefit managers, formulary appeals, or 340B programs. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement if you lack relevant work experience.
This role suits someone detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple patient cases asynchronously in a remote setting. You'll need strong communication skills to liaise across different healthcare stakeholders and the organizational ability to track applications through approval processes independently.
