About this role
Voltera Power is building EV charging infrastructure to accelerate the transition to zero-emission transportation, and they're hiring a Junior Cost Estimator to support their Project Controls team on a contract basis. You'd spend your time reviewing construction and electrical drawings, performing quantity take-offs (averaging 6–8 per week), and developing cost estimates for charging projects. The role involves identifying cost drivers and risks, assisting with RFP management and general contractor bid reviews, and maintaining estimating databases—all while collaborating with senior estimators, engineers, and development teams to meet project deadlines.
This position suits recent graduates or early-career professionals with a degree in construction science, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field and at least some hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, or entry-level work at a general contractor, A/E firm, or developer. You'll need to read construction drawings confidently, understand construction terminology and methods, and have basic-to-intermediate estimating skills. Familiarity with tools like Bluebeam, Procore, or AutoCAD is valuable but not required; what matters most is your willingness to learn the electrical and utility infrastructure specific to EV charging and your ability to communicate clearly with contractors and internal teams.
The contract role is fully remote and pays $36–$40 per hour depending on your background and location (Austin-area candidates are preferred). Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) matching, unlimited vacation, paid parental leave, an EV incentive, and monthly wellness and connectivity stipends, plus an annual bonus opportunity and equity compensation.
