About this role

Micas Networks is seeking an HR & Compliance Manager to build and lead the company's HR function from the ground up during a period of growth. You'll own the full spectrum of HR operations—recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations—while simultaneously establishing and maintaining robust compliance programs across federal, state, and California employment law. This is an individual contributor role that requires you to be both a hands-on operator and a strategic advisor to leadership, balancing day-to-day HR execution with the governance and audit readiness demands of a scaling organization.

The role demands someone with at least five years of HR experience who can navigate the complexity of employment law compliance, particularly in California, and who has led internal audits and compliance training. You'll work closely with executive leadership, finance, legal counsel, and external advisors to ensure the company's HR policies, payroll practices, leave administration, and corporate records meet all legal obligations. Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms, intermediate Excel skills, and familiarity with compliance tools are essential; background in tech, hardware, semiconductor, or networking is a plus but not required.

This position is based in San Jose and requires in-office work. It suits someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, manages competing priorities with precision, and brings high ethical standards to sensitive and confidential matters. A bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field is required; professional certifications like PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or CCEP are preferred.
