About this role
TRULAND Equipment, a John Deere dealer with 18 locations across Indiana and Ohio, is looking for a Lawn and Garden Service Technician to join their Fort Wayne team. You'd work independently diagnosing and repairing lawn and garden equipment—primarily John Deere brands but also competitive models—while receiving guidance from the service management team as needed. The role involves hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, operating diagnostic tools and vehicles, maintaining inventory and work areas, and tracking billable time and materials. You'd also participate in ongoing training through John Deere University and support customer clinics.
This position suits someone with at least a year of service repair experience and a solid grasp of equipment diagnostics. You'll need a high school diploma minimum (associate degree preferred), a valid driver's license, and the physical ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly. Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic tools like Service ADVISOR is valued, as is a forklift license. The role emphasizes quality work with minimal rework, reliability in meeting performance metrics, and the ability to mentor apprentices and work collaboratively.
TRULAND offers full-time employees competitive wages, health and dental coverage, a 401(k) with company contributions, paid time off, life insurance, and company-provided uniforms. The company values integrity, trust, and teamwork—priorities reflected in how they approach customer relationships and internal operations.
