About this role

Ophthalmology Consultants is building out its retina services in St. Louis and seeking a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon to establish a high-volume medical and surgical practice. You'd be joining an established ophthalmology group with an existing patient base and strong regional referral network—meaning you won't be starting from scratch. The role offers immediate demand for retina services across a broad spectrum of pathology, from age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy to complex surgical cases like retinal detachments and macular holes.

The practice provides experienced technicians, efficient surgical infrastructure, and a collaborative team of ophthalmologists and optometrists to support your work. You'd have the opportunity to develop and expand retina services throughout the region, with potential for leadership and long-term partnership within the organization. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, production-based earnings, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, CME allowance, and comprehensive benefits including disability coverage and retirement options.

St. Louis combines the resources of a major metropolitan area with a lower cost of living and strong quality of life, offering convenient access to travel and a range of professional and cultural amenities. This role suits a recently completed fellow or an experienced retina specialist looking to build a thriving practice within an established infrastructure rather than starting independently.
