SAP Business Process Lead, Product Lifecycle Management
We are seeking a SAP Business Process Lead to own the Product Lifecycle Management workstream on a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation. This is a business-first role: the lead is accountable for business process design on a project where the transformation is focused around business outcomes rather than technical scope.
Responsibilities
- Lead the business through the PLM workstream transformation
- Take the primary role in guiding the entire program through fit-to-standard workshops (for PLM domain)
- Resolve cross-workstream process dependencies
- Hold the line on process integrity across design, build, and deployment
Requirements
- Deep business process design experience, primarily within SAP, but grounded in a strong understanding of the underlying business operations independent of the tool
- Has implemented SAP as a business-led initiative where process design drives system design
- Understand SAP S/4HANA functionality within Product Lifecycle Management, spanning:
- Bill of material and product structure management
- Product formulation and recipe development
- Specification and product data management
- Engineering/product change management
- New product introduction and commercialization
- Packaging and artwork management
- Regulatory compliance and sustainability
- Able to work backward from that functionality to define the business processes, master data, and inputs required to drive it
- Past experience creating business process flows
Preferred
- Working understanding of SAP’s ‘Active Methodology’ having leveraged the SAP Best Practice flows
- Experience creating business process flows following BPMN standards

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $115-130 per hour. This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement and is not eligible for Pioneer benefits.
Work Location: Remote, some travel may be required to client site (monthly/quarterly).
About this role
Pioneer Management Consulting is looking for someone to lead the Product Lifecycle Management workstream on a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation. This is fundamentally a business process role—you'll own how the client's PLM operations get redesigned and implemented, working backward from SAP functionality to define the processes, master data, and workflows that actually drive business outcomes. You'll guide fit-to-standard workshops, resolve dependencies across other workstreams, and ensure process integrity holds through design, build, and deployment.
The ideal candidate has deep experience designing business processes within SAP environments and has led transformations where process design genuinely drove system design rather than the other way around. You need solid grounding in SAP S/4HANA PLM capabilities—bill of materials, product formulation, specification management, engineering change, new product introduction, packaging, and regulatory compliance—and the ability to translate that functionality into coherent business processes. Experience with BPMN standards and SAP's Active Methodology is a plus.
This is a remote contract role at $115–130 per hour, with occasional travel to the client site. You'll work directly with executive teams on a complex, high-stakes program where your process leadership shapes the transformation's success.
