Description

About commercetools

Real innovation starts with a strong foundation, and at commercetools, that comes from the perfect balance of our product and our people.

Behind every leap forward is a collective of builders, explorers, doers, makers, and problem-solvers. The kind of people who not only created composable commerce but also shaped the culture of experimentation that idea unlocked. Together they are the engine of commerce innovation today.

At commercetools, we power the next era of commerce for our customers. Whether it’s AI-driven solutions that help enterprises make smarter business decisions, bridging digital and physical shopping experiences, or enabling entirely new ways for industries to connect with their customers, we help the world’s most ambitious companies experiment, scale, and grow without limits.

Here the best idea wins, not the loudest voice. You will have the tools, trust, and space to not only build the future of commerce, but to build your own.

Your Impact

Hello! I'm Christina, Senior Manager of Business Development at commercetools. My team focuses on lead qualification, outbound prospecting, and pipeline generation to connect marketing efforts with sales opportunities.

As our Business Development Representative (BDR), you will serve as the crucial bridge between our Marketing and Sales teams. In this role, you will drive new business opportunities by identifying, reaching out to, and building meaningful relationships with potential customers.

To excel in this position, you should have proven experience generating and qualifying leads from marketing campaigns, paired with exceptional communication skills to establish trust with prospective clients. Ultimately, your efforts will directly impact revenue growth and fuel our long-term business success.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Building pipeline through outbound prospecting - research, multi-channel outreach, and persistent follow-up across an account list
  • Qualifying inbound leads from marketing campaigns and converting them into sales-ready opportunities
  • Running qualification conversations that surface a prospect’s commerce challenges
  • Booking qualified meetings for Account Executives and setting them up to win
  • Representing commercetools at industry-leading events, from conference floors to executive dinners
  • Partnering with your AEs on account strategy and territory planning
  • Keeping Salesforce current so your pipeline tells an accurate story
  • Staying fluent in our platform, our market, and how we’re positioned against alternatives

Are you driven, hard-working, and eager to launch your career in a high-energy, collaborative environment? We’d love to connect!

This role is in-office, with five days a week spent in our Boston office.

What Sets You Apart

You're a creative problem-solver who is wired to find solutions. You confidently dive into complex challenges and have a talent for making them simple for others. Your curiosity drives you to constantly grow and contribute to an environment of trust and teamwork.

Great ideas come from many paths, and your unique perspective matters more than checking every box. What matters most is the mindset you bring to the work.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Curiosity about how businesses work, and the drive to understand a prospect’s world before pitching into it
  • Resilience - this is a role where most outreach goes unanswered, and the people who succeed treat that as information rather than rejection
  • Clear, concise communication, written and spoken; you can hold a business conversation with a senior stakeholder and keep it moving
  • Self-direction and consistency - nobody will tell you how to spend every hour, and the results compound over weeks
  • Comfort with learning new technology and systems
  • AI aptitude: a genuine curiosity for using AI tools to work smarter and more effectively, paired with a drive to learn and put them into practice in your role

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to Salesforce or a sales engagement tool like Gong Engage
  • Experience in commerce, retail, or B2B software
  • A background in a role where you persuaded people for a living - teaching, recruiting, hospitality, customer service, fundraising, account management

About this role

Commercetools is looking for a Business Development Representative to own the pipeline between marketing and sales in their Boston office. You'll spend your time on outbound prospecting, qualifying inbound leads, and booking meetings for Account Executives—working across email, phone, and events to identify prospects' commerce challenges and move them toward a sales conversation. The role demands persistence, since most outreach goes unanswered, and the ability to research accounts, conduct qualification calls, and keep Salesforce accurate without constant direction.

You should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong written and verbal communication, and genuine curiosity about how businesses operate. The company values problem-solvers who can stay self-directed, learn new systems quickly, and bring an open mindset to the work. Prior exposure to Salesforce, sales engagement tools, or B2B software is helpful but not required; what matters more is your resilience, clarity, and willingness to use AI tools to work smarter. This is a full-time, in-office role (five days a week in Boston) with a salary range of $60,000–$70,000, plus comprehensive health benefits, learning budgets, equity participation, and enhanced parental leave.
