About WPP
WPP is the creative transformation company. Through One WPP and the Elevate28 transformation agenda, we are building a simpler, more integrated, agile and AI-powered enterprise. WPP’s Performance & Culture Center of Excellence brings together the capabilities that help our people, teams and organisation perform, grow and thrive. Within it, Enterprise Effectiveness aligns WPP’s organisation, workforce and teams around its strategic priorities and enables the change required to deliver them.
About the Role
The Global Head of Team Effectiveness will shape how WPP’s most critical leadership, client and transformation teams work together to deliver growth, creativity and enterprise change. This is an opportunity to build team effectiveness as a global enterprise capability and influence the teams on which WPP’s future performance depends.
Treating the team as the primary agent of change, you will partner with senior business, client and People & Culture leaders to diagnose the conditions limiting collective performance, design focused interventions and strengthen how teams align, decide, collaborate and deliver. The remit goes beyond traditional team building. You will create and scale the conditions for teams to adapt at pace, learn continuously, mobilise diverse capabilities and sustain performance as priorities change.
Why This Role Matters
One WPP will not be delivered through structures and processes alone. It will become real through the teams that lead the enterprise, serve our clients and deliver transformation across organisational boundaries. In this role, you will help those teams align around shared outcomes, combine WPP’s capabilities and turn enterprise ambition into stronger collective performance. The work has direct relevance to growth, creativity, client impact and the future of work at WPP.
What You’ll Do
Strengthen team alignment and collective performance
Translate enterprise and business strategy into shared outcomes, clear priorities and collective commitments for priority leadership, client and transformation teams.
Clarify team purpose, mandates, roles, interdependencies and shared accountabilities.
Improve decision effectiveness through clear decision rights, constructive challenge, timely escalation and disciplined follow-through.
Strengthen cross-boundary collaboration, leadership cohesion and the operating rhythms required to sustain performance.
Build a future-ready team effectiveness capability
Define and lead WPP’s enterprise approach to team effectiveness as a core enabler of One WPP and Elevate28.
Identify the mission-critical teams where stronger collective performance will have the greatest impact on growth, creativity, integration and transformation.
Create a simple, evidence-led approach with tailored support for leadership, client and transformation teams.
Build teams that can anticipate change, learn in the flow of work, integrate diverse expertise and reconfigure capacity as priorities shift.
Diagnose and improve team performance
Use qualitative and quantitative insight to identify the root causes of team friction and underperformance.
Design and facilitate high-stakes interventions that convert strategic ambition into choices, commitments and practical changes.
Agree outcomes and baselines, track progress and adapt interventions based on evidence rather than activity.
Embed new ways of working through leadership routines, governance, goals and accountability mechanisms.
Drive transformation through teams
Identify the teams that must change for a transformation to succeed and define the shifts required in each.
Align leadership teams around shared outcomes, difficult trade-offs and the behaviours they must visibly model.
Connect enterprise change plans with team-level action, experimentation, feedback and reinforcement.
Surface team and leadership risks that could slow transformation and recommend targeted action.
Scale capability, quality and insight
Develop practical diagnostics, playbooks and measurement standards that help leaders understand what is limiting team performance and take focused action.
Build the capability of business and People & Culture leaders, HR Business Partners and selected internal practitioners to strengthen teams across WPP.
Set quality and value standards for external coaches, facilitators and partners, with deliberate transfer of capability into WPP.
Establish clear standards for how team effectiveness work is prioritised, delivered and evaluated, using insight from across the work to continuously improve WPP’s approach.
What We’re Looking For
Enterprise transformation leadership: Significant experience leading team effectiveness, organisation development, culture, leadership or transformation in a complex global organisation, including work across federated or multi-brand businesses.
Business and client orientation: Strong commercial judgement and the ability to connect team effectiveness to strategy execution, client outcomes, productivity, speed and workforce agility.
Systemic team effectiveness expertise: Deep practical expertise diagnosing and improving executive, leadership and cross-functional teams using evidence-based systemic team-coaching approaches.
Professional credentials: A recognised coaching qualification or accreditation, with advanced training and applied experience in approaches such as Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC™) or Systemic Team Coaching. Certification in at least one recognised team-coaching methodology is strongly preferred.
Consulting, diagnosis and contracting: Experience contracting with senior sponsors, distinguishing team dynamics from structural or operating-model issues, and translating insight into focused interventions with measurable outcomes.
Executive facilitation and coaching: An expert facilitator and experienced coach who can guide senior teams through ambiguity, conflict, sensitive dynamics and difficult trade-offs with empathy, candour and constructive challenge.
Enterprise capability building: Proven ability to codify practice, build scalable tools and standards and develop internal practitioners.
Global influence and style: Credible across businesses, regions and functions; pragmatic, curious and low-ego, with the judgement to balance enterprise consistency with business relevance.

About this role
WPP's Performance & Culture Center of Excellence is seeking someone to establish team effectiveness as a strategic capability across the enterprise. This role shapes how the company's most critical leadership, client-facing and transformation teams collaborate to deliver growth and navigate organizational change. Rather than traditional team building, the work involves diagnosing what limits collective performance, designing interventions that help teams align around shared outcomes, make decisions effectively, and adapt as priorities shift. You'll partner with senior business and People & Culture leaders to translate enterprise strategy into concrete team-level commitments and operating rhythms.
The scope is substantial. You'll identify the mission-critical teams where stronger performance has the greatest impact on WPP's integration and transformation agenda, then build a scalable, evidence-led approach tailored to leadership, client and transformation teams. This includes designing high-stakes interventions, tracking progress against baselines, embedding new ways of working through governance and accountability, and surfacing risks that could slow transformation. You'll also develop diagnostics, playbooks and measurement standards, build capability among internal leaders and HR partners, and set quality standards for external coaches and facilitators.
This demands significant experience leading team effectiveness, organization development or transformation in complex global organizations—ideally federated or multi-brand structures. You'll need strong commercial judgment to connect team performance to strategy execution and client outcomes, deep practical expertise in systemic team effectiveness, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. The role is based in London and requires in-office presence.
