About this role

Leading a shift at Blank Street's Boston cafe means owning the day-to-day operations and customer experience during your time on the floor. You'll be responsible for crafting quality coffee and matcha drinks, delivering the hospitality that builds a loyal customer base, and managing the team—training new hires, solving problems as they arise, and supporting your general manager. This is a hands-on role where you're both doing the work and setting the tone for how your team shows up.

The ideal candidate has at least two years in a customer service leadership role, ideally in hospitality or food and beverage, and genuinely enjoys cafe culture and connecting with people. You'll need to thrive in high-volume, fast-paced environments, multitask effectively, and be comfortable with the physical demands of the job—standing for long shifts and lifting regularly. Weekend and holiday availability is expected, with a schedule of 30–40 hours across 4–5 days per week, including at least two peak days (Friday through Sunday).

Blank Street offers $19.50–$21.00 per hour plus tips, a $250 sign-on bonus after 90 days, comprehensive barista training, paid time off, commuter benefits, sick time, and perks like complimentary drinks and company swag. This role suits someone who wants to lead in a growth-focused brand while staying connected to the craft and customer interaction that makes cafe work rewarding.
