Position Summary:

You’ll start with a small team, without an immediate hiring budget. Your priority will be to win business and build revenue; the opportunity to grow a team will come later. This role suits someone who enjoys building from the ground up and brings the resilience, commercial judgement and C-suite relationships to sell Omio’s complex products.

An exceptional Director of Sales / VP of Sales combines the commercial discipline and competence of an enterprise-sales leader with the mindset of a technology operator and builder.

This is not a traditional sales-management role, the expectation is to own the development and execution of our sales strategy as we scale from a high-growth technology company into a global category leader.

The ideal candidate would have experience selling to enterprise and strategic customers, scaling a technology company and working for marketplaces, travel, fintech, SaaS or other complex platforms, with analytical rigour and systems thinking

The VP of Sales will be responsible for revenue growth, sales strategy, pipeline generation, forecasting, commercial productivity and international expansion.

The ideal candidate would follow an AI-native approach, building a sales organisation that operates using AI extensively across prospecting, account intelligence, qualification, forecasting, proposal generation, customer research and sales productivity.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Develop the sales strategy and organisation

  • Develop and execute the company's global sales strategy.
  • Recruit, develop and retain exceptional sales leaders and individual contributors.
  • Establish the organisational structure required to scale from hundreds of millions to billions in revenue.
  • Develop compensation, incentives and career architecture aligned with company objectives.
  • Translate company strategy into clear commercial priorities and measurable objectives.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and executive team on strategic growth initiatives.

Drive revenue growth

  • Own the sales pipeline and bookings/revenue targets.
  • Build predictable pipeline generation across markets.
  • Enhance new customer growth.
  • Develop strategic account plans for the company's most important customers.

Lead strategic sales relationships

  • Develop relationships with CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, CFOs and other senior decision-makers.
  • Lead complex, multi-country and multi-year commercial negotiations.
  • Position the company as a strategic technology partner rather than simply a vendor.
  • Develop partnerships with major distribution and ecosystem players.

Build an AI-native sales organisation

  • Deploy AI throughout prospecting, account research and qualification.
  • Automate administrative work and eliminate low-value sales activity.
  • Build AI-assisted account intelligence and opportunity prioritisation.
  • Use AI to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Develop AI-supported proposal and RFP processes.
  • Create automated sales-coaching and performance-feedback systems.
  • Establish a culture where salespeople spend more time selling and less time managing CRM systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 10 years of B2B sales or commercial leadership experience, ideally in a high-growth technology, SaaS, marketplace, fintech or other complex platform business.
  • Proven ability to win new customers and deliver material revenue or bookings growth, including personal ownership of major enterprise or strategic deals.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with strong commercial and sales acumen. Able to turn customer, market and performance data into clear priorities and action.
  • AI-native, with practical experience using AI, automation or modern sales technology to improve sales productivity.
  • Travel-sector experience is advantageous but not essential. Fluent English is required. Additional languages and willingness to travel internationally are advantageous.

About this role

Omio is building a global travel platform that aggregates transport across 46 countries, and they're looking for a senior sales leader to drive revenue growth from the ground up. You'd own the sales strategy and execution for a complex, multi-supplier marketplace business, starting with a small team and no immediate hiring budget—this is a role for someone comfortable selling and building before scaling. Your focus will be winning enterprise and strategic customers, establishing predictable pipeline generation across international markets, and developing relationships with C-suite decision-makers at major distribution and ecosystem partners.

The position demands 10+ years of B2B sales leadership, ideally in high-growth tech, SaaS, or marketplace businesses where you've personally closed significant deals and delivered measurable revenue growth. You'll need strong analytical skills to translate data into commercial priorities, and practical experience with AI and modern sales technology—not as a buzzword, but as tools to automate prospecting, qualification, forecasting, and proposal work so your team spends more time selling. Travel-sector experience is a bonus but not required; fluent English is essential, and willingness to travel internationally is advantageous.

This is Berlin-based, in-office, and suits someone who combines enterprise-sales discipline with a builder's mindset and the resilience to scale a complex platform business. Background checks are conducted post-offer through SpringVerify.
