About this role

Lyft is hiring a Software Engineer to build and maintain features across their web platform, working primarily with React, TypeScript, and Next.js in a hybrid setup based in San Francisco. You'd own projects end-to-end—from translating product specs into code through deployment and ongoing support—while contributing to architectural decisions that shape the platform's evolution. The role involves cross-functional collaboration to integrate new technologies, mentoring through code reviews, and interfacing with stakeholders on requirements and technical trade-offs.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus at least one year of professional software development experience. You should be comfortable with Python and Flask, AWS services like DynamoDB and SQS, Kubernetes, and relational or NoSQL databases. Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design are expected. This is a full-time role with a base salary of $138,000–$192,000 and a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week in the San Francisco office (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays), with flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks annually.

Lyft offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, mental health support, family building assistance, child care and pet benefits, a 401(k) plan, discretionary paid time off plus 12 observed holidays, 18 weeks of paid parental leave, and subsidized commuter benefits. You'll also receive exclusive access to test new Lyft ridership program features as an employee.
