About this role

Zone 5 Technologies is developing autonomous unmanned aircraft systems, and this contract role offers electrical engineers the chance to work on the full lifecycle of UAS electrical architecture—from circuit design and microcontroller development through production integration and field troubleshooting. You'll own wire harness design using Altium, collaborate across mechanical and software teams to integrate systems into flying platforms, and serve as the critical link between the avionics engineering group and the production line, addressing manufacturing non-conformances as they arise.

The position requires a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering plus at least five years of hands-on experience with UAS circuit diagnostics, analog and digital design, power systems, and CAN bus communication. You should be comfortable leading small projects and working in a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and cross-functional communication matter. The role is based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and is in-office; compensation ranges from $116,000 to $200,000 depending on level (III or IV) and experience.

Over your first year, you'll ramp from learning existing systems and participating in integration work, to leading small electrical projects and owning NCR closure, and ultimately to full responsibility as the avionics liaison to production. The package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k matching, three weeks of PTO, and standard holidays.
