About this role
Starling Oncology is seeking a hematology/oncology physician to join its FlexCare team in Palmdale, providing flexible short-term coverage across their growing network of community-based cancer clinics. This is a full-time locum role scheduled for two days per week, positioning you as an integrated team member rather than a traditional traveling locum—you'll have consistent scheduling, guaranteed hours, and competitive compensation while maintaining the flexibility to support clinics across Starling's five-state footprint (California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, and Florida).
You'll deliver evidence-based care to adult patients while collaborating with local clinic teams, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff. The role includes participation in tumor boards, clinical trials, and quality initiatives, with opportunities to mentor local teams and adapt to varying clinic workflows. This suits physicians who are board certified or board eligible in hematology/oncology with at least one year of post-fellowship experience (though not strictly required) and who thrive in multidisciplinary, value-based care environments.
Beyond the clinical work, Starling covers all travel, lodging, and per diem costs, and offers pathways to permanent site placement or full-time conversion with equity opportunities. The position appeals to physicians seeking meaningful community-based oncology work with scheduling control and the chance to expand access to care in underserved regions.
