About this role

At SpaceX's Hawthorne facility, this role puts you at the center of Raptor engine production—overseeing assembly and tube shop operations while driving the manufacturing processes that will power missions to Mars. You'll own the full lifecycle of production tooling, work directly with hardware on the floor, and collaborate across design, build, and reliability teams to solve real-world manufacturing challenges. The work demands both creative problem-solving (questioning requirements, streamlining builds, implementing corrective actions) and hands-on technical execution, with extended hours and weekend availability expected.

The position suits engineers with a mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing degree and at least a year of hands-on experience—whether from industry or serious collegiate projects like Formula SAE or Baja. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with fluid and electrical systems, CAD (particularly NX), GD&T, manufacturing processes like machining and welding, and experience moving products from development into volume production. You should be comfortable working with minimal supervision and have a solid grasp of design for manufacturability, process development, and error-proofing methodologies.

Compensation ranges from $100,000 to $130,000 at entry level, with stock options, potential bonuses, comprehensive benefits, and three weeks of paid vacation. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required due to ITAR export regulations.
