About this role

Kairos Power is building advanced nuclear reactors and needs a Senior Quality Engineer to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards across the full lifecycle of hardware development—from design and testing through manufacturing, construction, and operation. You would independently lead quality assessments against safety and delivery commitments, translate findings into actionable corrective actions, and mentor other quality engineers while continuously improving the company's quality management system. This role demands someone who can partner effectively across design, testing, manufacturing, construction, and operations teams, communicate assessment outcomes clearly to both technical staff and senior leadership, and occasionally travel between Kairos Power sites.

The position requires at least eight years of quality assurance experience in safety-critical industries like aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or infrastructure, combined with deep expertise in ISO-based standards and quality management system implementation. You should be comfortable independently planning and conducting audits, using design controls and configuration management, and working with suppliers on quality oversight. Beyond the technical qualifications, you'll need strong communication skills, the ability to solve problems quickly, and a collaborative mindset—plus willingness to occasionally engage in hands-on work with hardware fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning.

The role is based in Albuquerque and requires in-office work in demanding environments including manufacturing floors, test facilities, and outdoor sites. You should be prepared for occasional overtime and weekend work, exposure to varying temperatures and chemical odors, and the physical demands of moving around job sites and handling equipment up to 25 pounds.
